The CNC Assistant/Apprentice position is designed to give hands on experience with Manufacturing equipment in a support role. The goal is to support the primary operators by performing duties listed below to allow them time to focus on the programming and final stages of part set-up. Depending on aptitude, mechanical skill, and work habits; the assistant/apprentice can transition into a full CNC operator role as needed.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
• Unload machines that have completed production.
• Bring production parts to quality or elsewhere as appropriate.
• Changeover feed tooling appropriate.
• Pull up the program where applicable and set tooling based off of previous manufacturing notes where possible.
• Help monitor machines including inspections and measurements where parts are running to allow primary operators time to focus on set-up.
• Identify tooling required for parts and put requests through to have tooling made where appropriate.
• Perform preventive maintenance on machines and ovens as time permits.
• Monitor machine operations and stop if a problem occurs.
• Removes finished work pieces from machine and sets aside defective pieces.
• Capable of reading and completing work orders.
• Other tasks as requested.
SKILLS and ABILITIES
• Ability to grasp, manipulate or assemble objects.
• Physical ability to lift up to 75 lbs.
• Capability of working from verbal instructions.
• Engage in a team environment to resolve issues.
• Ability to work independently on primary responsibilities.
• Knowledge of or ability to learn the use of calipers, micrometers, and load test equipment.
Job Type: Full-time
Salary: $17.00 – $20.00 per hour
