The rotating assembly in the 2006–2007 Duramax 6.6L LBZ includes the crankshaft, connecting rods, pistons, and related bearings—all the components that convert combustion into rotational motion. The LBZ features a forged steel crankshaft and robust connecting rods capable of handling high torque and boost levels. The pistons are cast aluminum, designed for durability under diesel compression. This assembly is precisely balanced to reduce vibration and ensure smooth operation. In performance builds, components may be upgraded to forged rods and lower-compression pistons to support more power and higher RPMs while maintaining engine reliability.
