The 6.6L LBZ Duramax (2006–2007) uses forged aluminum pistons. These pistons are stronger and more durable than earlier cast versions. Each piston has a deep bowl in the crown for better fuel mixing and combustion. Steel wrist pins connect the pistons to the rods. Oil jets cool the pistons from below. Three rings seal each piston to control compression and oil. These pistons handle high pressure and heat from diesel combustion, making them ideal for heavy-duty and performance use.
