Reman Vs. Rebuilt
Our reman diesel engines are completely redesigned and machined to provide durability and longevity. It’s very important to understand the difference between a reman diesel engine and a rebuilt diesel engine. A diesel reman engine is built back better than new. Meeting or exceeding factory specifications. The rebuilt engine means that it has been torn down, inspected, and repaired as seen necessary. Machining is not always mandated in a “rebuilt” engine. So it is important to compare, and educate yourself as the consumer. An educated consumer will make the right choice. Our engines exceed the specifications of the factory.

Balanced rotational assemblies have proven to drastically increase the bearing lifespan of any engine. Notwithstanding the heavy reciprocating mass of the diesel engine. Whether its issues Ford had from the headgasket failure of the Ford Powerstroke 6.0. The cracked pistons of the Ford Powerstroke 6.4. The valve wear of the Ford Powerstroke 7.3. The spun bearings and oiling system issues of the Ford Powerstroke 6.7. The cracked 53 Cummins block, or valve seat failures of the Cummins 6.7. Or the…..expensive disaster of Cummins. Choate Engineering Performance (Industrial) no matter the application, has the solution! Diesel is the core of our existence. There isn’t many options for a remanufactured diesel engine in the industrial world other than the OE. We understand the need for the people that depend on the performance of these engines. And that is why we are a “performance” engine remanufacturer. Most in this sector think of “performance” as a nitro top fuel engine. But if an engine continues to perform, when the original has failed, we call that a performance engine. Whether it be a small Yanmar, Kubota, Mitsubishi, or Shibaura. To a QSK Cummins or 3500 Caterpillar and everything in between, you need reliability! Our versatility of the aftermarket allows us to do things that the OEM can’t. It allows us the flexibility to go outside of the corporate mindset.

Let me put it this way, imagine going down into the Grand Canyon while trusting someone to hold the rope for you hundreds of feet suspended over the ledge.
It may sound like an over-exaggeration, but it’s a very applicable example of what it’s like trusting a machine shop to make sure that all tolerances, clearances, and specifications are correct.
You spend a tremendous amount of time, especially on a diesel engine, to reassemble it. Many times calling for cab removal to install it. The last thing you want to do is get it all back together just to find that the machine shop, the one you trusted in, let go of the proverbial rope.
Having found ourselves in that exact situation, and with no help from the machine shops we dealt with we made a decision.
We would hold our own rope!
We either would completely get out of this business or we would invest thousands and thousands of dollars into what is one of the top machine shops in the country.
And so we threw our efforts and finances into what is now known as “Choate Engineering Performance”.

Assuring that quality control stays in our hands and in-house we are happy and secure in the knowledge that each engine that ships out all over the country has met or exceeded the high standards we have for it.
