Sales & Service Questions

Short blocks have the following included:

  • Lower block, crankshaft, connecting rods, pistons, rings, main
    bearings, rod bearings, cam bearings, gaskets, harmonic balancer, flexplate/flywheel  ( on most engines), rear main seal.
  • To sum it up, this does not include any bolt on parts.

WARNING!!! Only purchase this unit if you have a qualified engine
specialist who can properly clean, rework, and assemble to a complete
running engine, it will require numerous new parts, and a lot of time not
recommended for the weekend warrior !!!

 

Long blocks include:

  • All the mentioned items of the short block assembly plus the complete cylinder head(s), rocker assemblies and pushrods.

 

Our standard short and long blocks do not come with:

  • Wiring harnesses, sensors, belts, hoses, motor mounts, injectors,
    fuel pumps, valve covers (these come on only for shipping
    purposes), turbos or water pumps.

 

You can buy these bolt on items but you must install them yourself.

These turbos are not new. They are cartridges which means we need your housing to rebuild them. 

Core RMA is provided inside your Engine Paperwork Packages shipped to you with your New Engine. A BOL is stapled to the back of the RMA  with a set date of when pick up will occur. Call (901) 553-9847 ext.1007 if you are unable to meet this date. Change of dates will result in a deduction off your core charge. 

 

We do have a 45 day limit on core returns. 

Once past, Core credit returns will be accepted within 60 days of original purchase shipment date. After 60 days, the core credit refunds will be at the discretion of Choate. Core returns after 45 days will be issued Choate store credit only and expires 1 year from date of issue.

Retail and NEW Dealers

CORE CHARGES ARE CHARGED UPFRONT UNLESS A FULL RUNNING ASSEMBLY WAS PURCHASED. IF YOU CHOOSE TO SEND YOUR CORE IN FIRST THERE IS NO FEE CHARGED UP FRONT.

BY BUYING YOU AGREE TO HAVE THE ENGINE CORE READY FOR PICKUP AND RETURN TO US WITHIN 30 DAYS OF RECEIVING THE ENGINE. FAILURE TO DO SO WILL VOID YOUR WARRANTY.

IF YOU HAVE NO CORE OR THE CORE IS NO GOOD. (CORE MUST HAVE NO VISIBLE CRACKS OR HOLES AND ROTATE 360 DEGREES) CORE WILL BE INSPECTED AND MUST MEET CHOATE ENGINEERING SPECIFICATIONS TO DEEM IT A GOOD USABLE CORE. THE ENGINE WILL BE SHIPPED TO CHOATE ENGINEERING IN SHRINK WRAP IN THE CRATE WE SENT YOUR ORIGINAL ENGINE IN.

INSPECTION OF CORE TAKES APPROX, 15-30 DAYS. ONCE INSPECTED APPROPRIATE CORE FEES WILL BE KEPT AND BALANCING REMAINING WILL BE REFUNDED PROMPTLY VIA ORIGINAL METHOD OF PAYMENT. WE REQUIRE A LIKE FOR LIKE CORE. MEANING IF WE SEND YOU A LONG BLOCK WE REQUIRE EVERYTHING FROM YOUR CORE LONG BLOCK TO BE USABLE AND MACHINABLE.

WE WILL NEED THE YEAR, MAKE, MODEL, AND VIN NUMBER TO MAKE SURE YOU ARE BUYING THE CORRECT ENGINE BEFORE WE SHIP.

Injectors are not a serviceable item and should be removed for testing or replaced every (90,000 mi). We like to remind our customers that an injector failure, especially from worn out or contaminated fuel system causing an engine failure is not covered under warranty.

CHOATE requires the replacement of the oil cooler otherwise the warranty will be void.

Shipping Questions

 

Shipping costs one way can range anywhere between $400-$600 or more depending on your location.

Return shipping is automatically setup for 45 days after your engine leaves the facility, If the core is ready prior to 45 days please contact  us directly at (901) 553-9847 ext.1007. 

Typically, you have already paid for your core shipping up front. We would simply provide you with a BOL to place on the box and a CORE RMA to ship. This is included in your Engine paperwork packages when you receive your engine.

Warranty Questions

Supplied with every engine is a complete copy of our warranty with an attached warranty registration. Once filled out it can be emailed to sales3@diesel911.com. You should also retain a copy for your records as it may be required to assist with a warranty concern.

You must have this turned in with in 45 days of receiving your CHOATE engine. Warranty is denied, if we do not receive this back. 

Contact us ASAP. DO NOT PROCEED WITH REPAIRS UNTIL INFORMING US! Engine is not to be disassembled. 

Write down as much information as possible such as unusual noises, leaks, any lights in gauge cluster and what happened leading up to the incident. Take Pictures. BE SURE BEFORE YOU CONTACT US YOU HAVE CHECKED ALL UPPER END ITEMS THAT WERE INVOLVED IN THE INSTALL.

If ever unsure as to the severity of a problem it’s best to have your vehicle towed to avoid additional damages. Choate does not cover Tow charges.

Please choose one person as the point of contact as multiple people involved will slow up the solution. Be sure you read over our warranty once more to see what we will and will not cover.

Email all information you have gathered to sales3@diesel911.com, once they have received this information you will get a Helpdesk ticket informing you we are looking into your problem. Wait 2-3 days to hear back from us on what we would like you to do next. DO NOT TEAR THE ENGINE DOWN AS THIS VOIDS YOUR WARRANTY!
