Choate Engineering Performance Remanufactured Diesel Marine Engines, Built for Offshore Reliability

A meticulously balanced rotating assembly guarantees a smooth and quiet ride every time you get on step.

Our built-for-the-blue diesel marine engines are delivered drop-in ready, so you can get back on the water fast.

We've corrected a common failure point by upgrading to billet freeze plugs, eliminating the threat of destructive saltwater rot-out.

Our diesel marine engines feature upgraded exhaust valves to prevent catastrophic engine failure that could leave you stranded at sea.
Every Choate Engineering Performance Diesel Marine Engine is backed by a 2-year / 2,000-hour warranty.
Like all our diesels, we don't just rebuild them, we remanufacture them to surpass OEM specifications:
Marine engines are exposed to environmental factors that make remanufacturing them unique. Marine-focused upgrades include:
All this means a quieter cabin, a smoother ride, and far less stress on your engine during offshore outings.
Our diesel marine engines ship fully assembled and are designed for a seamless swap into your engine bay. They come complete with engine core components, cylinder head components, gaskets and seals, aftercooler/intercooler, wet exhaust manifold, raw water pump, new injectors, and more.
Standard brass or steel freeze plugs are notorious for corroding and failing in harsh coastal and offshore environments, which can quickly end your season. To ensure ultimate corrosion resistance, we eliminate standard plugs entirely and install premium Billet freeze plugs on all of our diesel marine engine blocks.
Dropped valves spell catastrophic engine failure at sea. We tackle this by blueprinting the entire valve train geometry and installing all-new, upgraded exhaust valves designed specifically to eliminate high-heat separation. Combined with precision-decked surfaces for flawless MLS head gasket sealing, our cylinder heads are built to take the sustained high EGTs of high-idle trolling and wide-open throttle transitions.
We stand behind our precision engineering with a comprehensive 2-Year / 2,000-Hour Warranty. Whether you are running a charter boat, a commercial fishing vessel, or enjoying recreational cruising, your investment is protected against defects in materials and workmanship.
(Note: To activate, proper installation procedures must be followed, including the installation of required associated engine components, performance of regularly scheduled maintenance, and warranty registration/document submission within 45 days of purchase).
We require a standard $3,000 core charge for our marine blocks. You have two options at checkout: You can choose to accept the charge upfront, which is fully refunded once we receive and inspect your old engine core to ensure it meets our rebuildable standards, or you can opt to send your core to us first to avoid the upfront charge entirely.
Absolutely. Both the mechanical 6BTA 5.9L and the electronically controlled QSB 6.7L are legendary powerplants built for the blue. Whether you need relentless, low-end torque for a heavy commercial trawler or smooth, high-speed cruising for a sportfisher, our CNC-machined and balanced marine diesel engines are tailored to meet the demands of the open ocean.
